However, with the intensification of market competition, the higher material cost of POM also made the cost of drip irrigation mini valves higher, so there was an urgent need to choose a new material to replace POM.
In China, some manufacturers of drip irrigation mini valves took the lead in trying and launched mini valves made of PP (as shown in Picture 2), which received good feedback in the market. Then more and more companies joined this group, and finally, PP drip irrigation mini valves replaced POM drip irrigation mini valves and became the mainstream.
The success of PP drip irrigation mini valves is due to their higher cost performance, and they can also fully meet the needs of drip irrigation. First, generally speaking, the service life of drip irrigation products is not very long, usually 2–3 years is enough. Second, PP material mini valves, after technological improvements, can also handle higher temperatures and have very good aging resistance. Finally, the cost of PP material is much lower than POM. Combining these three advantages, PP drip irrigation mini valves eventually became the new mainstream in the market!

The styles of drip irrigation mini valves are mainly distinguished by their handles. At the beginning, the handles of the popular mini valves on the market looked like the letter K, so they were also called AK mini valves (as shown in Picture 3).
Later, however, the handles of mini valves were changed to a more rounded style (as shown in Picture 4). Mini valves with this kind of handle are stronger and achieved very good sales in the global market.
In recent years, some new handle styles of mini valves have also appeared on the market (as shown in Picture 5). The handles of these valves have a better grip and are more ergonomic in design.
The Functions of Drip Irrigation Mini Valves
Drip irrigation mini valves can be divided into two types according to their functions: straight valves and bypass valves.
Below are the nine main connection methods of straight valves and bypass valves. In the following diagram, the valves corresponding to these nine connection methods are shown and can be matched one by one according to the numbers.
Straight valves, as the name suggests, are used to connect straight pipelines in the same direction, such as:
1. The connection between PE pipe and PE pipe.
2. Between PE pipe and drip tape.
3. Between drip tape and drip tape.
Bypass valves, on the other hand, are used to connect the main pipeline and the branch pipeline, and they can control and change the direction of water flow. Depending on the characteristics of the pipeline material, their connection methods are also different.Such as:
4. The connection between hard pipe (main pipeline) and PE pipe (branch pipeline). When connecting, a small hole needs to be punched in the hard pipe, and then one end of the bypass valve is inserted. However, to ensure sealing, a rubber ring must be used during the connection.

6. The connection between hard pipe (main pipeline) and drip tape (branch pipeline). During the connection, a hole also needs to be punched in the hard pipe, and a rubber ring should be used together.
7. The connection between the main pipeline (threaded interface) and the drip tape (branch pipeline).
8. The connection between lay flat hose (main pipeline) and drip tape (branch pipeline).
9. There is also a type of bypass valve that can be used for connections regardless of whether the main pipeline is hard or soft, and whether the branch pipeline is drip tape or PE dripline. It provides a tighter connection. However, it should be noted that whenever connecting to a hard pipe, a rubber ring must be used to prevent leakage.
