Hydrocyclone sand separator (also known as hydrocyclone filter) is a device that uses centrifugal force for primary filtration. They are widely used in agricultural irrigation and industrial water treatment systems to remove larger impurities (such as sand and gravel) and protect other irrigation system components from being blocked.
Its working principle is very simple. When water enters the filter from the water inlet on the top side, the water flow will rotate. Large particles of impurities have a different specific gravity from water, so these impurities will be thrown to the inner wall of the filter and settle in the tank at the bottom, while clean water will be discharged from the top outlet. It is worth mentioning that the hydrocyclone filter can be reused for a long time by simply cleaning the impurity tank at the bottom regularly.
Hydrocyclone sand separator does not use a filter. It is usually used as a first-stage filtration device and can be used with a disc filter or screen filter to achieve more thorough water purification.

No. Hydrocyclone filter is used to filter larger impurities such as sand and gravel. It cannot filter finer impurities. You can use hydrocyclone filter with other filters to achieve the best filtering effect.

Because the specific gravity of water and large particles of impurities is different, it can rely on centrifugal force to make the large impurities settle into the tank at the bottom of the filter. Then the filtered water is discharged from the water outlet at the top.
